William (Bill) Hamilton lives in Tumalo and works out of his home studio. He paints a wide variety of subjects in acrylic, oil, and watercolor. Snow capped mountains, high desert landscape and local architecture are among some of his favorite subjects.
Hamilton, whose collector base and following has grown considerably this past year, originally studied commercial art at Oregon Tech and spent much of his adult life working in California for Westinghouse Electric as a technical artist. However, much of his spare time was spent drawing and painting for the pleasure of it. After retirement he and his wife moved to Central Oregon where Bill has been able to devote full time to his passion.
His paintings often represent places he has been. "People like to buy things that they know," says Hamilton. Bill gives us just that: "Camp Sherman," a vibrant watercolor of that community's general store, "Llama Smirk," a delightful and fun acrylic portrait of one of Central Oregon’s favorite animals, "Tower Theater," the downtown Bend landmark done in watercolor, or "Early Spring," an acrylic that captures the majestic snow capped mountains.
